CHOI Sukun

CHOI Sukun (born 1960) is a South Korean painter with a BFA from Pusan National University and an MFA from Hongik University. CHOI has held numerous solo exhibitions, including upcoming shows at the JIFU Museum in Hubei, China (2024), and GaRam Gallery in Seoul (2023).

In addition to his exhibitions, CHOI has participated in various residencies and earned several accolades. His recent residencies include the Fang Zhou Studio in Hubei, China (2024) and the Hengchon Museum Imado Studio in Heanam, Korea (2019).

The restrained, character-focused expression without excessive meaning or embellishment satirically depicts the complex nature of our times, and the relatable situations and emotions in the artwork provide viewers with an enjoyable experience. In Choi’s work, characterized by humor, wit, and satire, "everyday life" serves as an important motif.
